Management

Managing the administrative duties of the church and scheduling. This also includes how I went about managing my time in ministry.

My Description of Management

Management is Administrative

Management is in my opinion the administrative side of a pastor’s work. Primarily, management is the everyday tasks, weekly tasks, monthly tasks, and yearly tasks of church business. Management is scheduling your calendar to make sure that you are balancing your time engaged in work, family, and rest.

Management is Prioritizing Time and Schedule

The pastor must consider his/her time in such a way that promotes longevity and not short-term. We are to run the race with endurance. This happens when my activities and schedule is prioritized. Jesus teaches in Matthew 6:33, Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.

Management is Meetings

In Acts 6 and Acts 15 we also find that it is important at times for the church to come together to discuss church business, ministry, and any issues. Meetings like these are important so that leadership may remain on the same page and may continue to move forward together. Management through meetings can facilitate team work as long as the vision and goal is kept before them.

The following are screenshots of the classes I have taken related to management, whether of meetings or time. (The time stamps don't reflect entirely how much time I spent watching the videos. The first one, I repeated and watched again.)

I sought these classes because I wanted to create meetings that were productive and didn't feel like a waste of time. My main concern was the board meeting because I feel many people view it as "bored" meeting not "board" meeting.

Managing Church Business Meeting - Athens, GA

February 2025 Church Business Meeting

We met for dinner and vespers first. We had around 20-30 people attend. We discussed further plans for the church renovations.

October 2025 Church Business Meeting

We had a follow up on renovations and ministry update.

Using Storytelling during Church Business Meeting

I used storytelling to cast the vision why we should continue with our renovations at our church business meeting in February 2025. This helped people to see what a visitor might encounter upon their first visit.

Managing Church Budget and Renovation Financial Plan

This was our proposed budget for 2025. This was the first budget I worked on particularly with the Treasurer and Head Elder. You may use the button below to see that in more detail.

This is a financial planning sheet for our renovations we are endeavoring to do at Athens. You may use the above button "Church Budget 2025" to see this as well.

Calendar Management

This is on average what I plan for on my calendar. I use google calendar to manage my schedule and all visitations. The out of office represents the time that I am spending with Moses while Pashal is working. Also, Monday's are normally my day off so I do not schedule anything on that day. Lastly, not everything is scheduled on these calendars but this shows the every week occurrences that I can normally count upon.

Managing Ministry Leaders Reports

The purpose of these reports were to facilitate ministry conversation at the board and also help the pastoral staff at ANC to be better acquainted with the concerns and updates of each ministry during the pandemic.
